Ivan Frishberg is Chief Sustainability Officer at Amalgamated Bank, where he leads the Bank’s impact and shareholder engagement programs. As a commercial banker, he played a leading role in mobilizing the banking sector around climate commitments to combat climate change, including as Board President of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), where he helped grow the initiative to nearly $100 trillion in assets committed to measuring and disclosing financed emissions.
Under his leadership, Amalgamated has played a global leadership role within the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) in developing guidance for how banks set targets to reduce financed emissions. Ivan was also a founding member of the U.S. Treasury’s Climate Financial Risk Advisory Committee, where he advised the Financial Stability Oversight Council on the economic and financial risks of climate change.
At Amalgamated, Ivan leads the development of the Bank’s tripod approach to measuring balance sheet impact across climate, social, and sector-based metrics, while modernizing its measurement and disclosure infrastructure.
